Mood: waiting for wind

30th July 2009
Windsurfing: Camber Sands - Little Maui Wind Direction: SW Wind Stength: Nukin, then nothing, then enou Surf / Sea State: sweet waves Air Temperature: chilly Sea Temperature: ok Weather: MIXED!! Max Speed: Distance Covered:
Proper mixed bag, following an early bunk off from work.
Got to Las Dunas for early afternoon, and Rich's missus told me Rich was on
4.2m & the orange board ... Camber Mafia confirmed it was fkin windy and
showed video clip of Fireman Sam bailing out from a big jump and his kit
going all Pozo .....
So .. 4.2m & Twin 84.
Over the dunes, launched after battling to the waters edge against the wind
... couple of runs and the big black cloud erupted and killed the wind.
Didn'ty look like coming back for a while, but as the clearer weather
pushed through, the wind returned, or perhaps we should say it's little bro
popped by for a bit ...
Quick re-think, 5.9m Duke on Hawk 123 as needed float to get out. Pretty
over boarded out the back, but still managed to put in some linked top &
bottom turn backside rides on some real sweet waves ... would have been
pure joy on a more wave oriented board, but with a 30cm Choco Starfish in
there it loosened up just enough. Jumping was pretty easy on the way out
though ;-)
Eventually binned it as bust one of those white Dakine harness lines ...
just the plastic remained but was pretty stretchy.
Wasn't all that bad, Rich busted his FSW95 RRD ... and there were reports
of other casualties too.
Fun session, but not as fun as it should have been
